Opening day never looked so good. Whether it's the excited rush of the hunt, finding peace among the marsh's quiet solitude at dawn, or the simple contentment of watching your management efforts rewarded with a variety of waterfowl streaking across the sky with a melodic honk, there's not a better place to experience the outdoors. The aptly named Deep Fork Ranch is 400+/- acres of prime recreational land on the old Deep Fork River channel southwest of Chandler, Oklahoma. In an area known for rich wetland resources, this gem of a property is one of the very few managed wetlands not in WRP. No conservation easement restrictions means management truly stays in the hands of the landowner.
An interconnected system of enhanced wetland cells with water control structures facilitates moist-soil management and nurtures highly desirable vegetation that not only serves as a natural filter but also provides excellent food sources for waterfowl. Scattered upland areas have consistently yielded superb whitetail harvests over many years with established genetics that make this much more than just a duck hunter's retreat. All enhanced areas are situated far enough from the actual channel as to avoid the heavy siltation that can come from the river. While the majority of the acreage is in the floodplain, there is a 10-12 acre area not far off the county road that could support a nice structure, like a hunting lodge, if so desired.
Directions: From the south end of Chandler (intersection of Highways 66 and 18S) go south 2 miles to 930 Rd, turn right and go 1.7 miles west, orange panel gate on north side of county road is entrance.
